FAQ

Do I need Part 1 first? It’s recommended, not required. This course stands on its own, and whenever a lesson leans on something from Part 1, I tell you. Does this teach design software? No. You’ll learn the workflow and design thinking, not which buttons to click. Use whatever software you already have. How much time does it take? Every lesson includes working time. Some lessons are about an hour, and the collection and sketching lessons take several hours. Work at your own pace. Is there a schedule? Self-paced, no live sessions. How long do I have access? For at least 2 years but if for some reason access is going away, I'll let you know.  What if it isn’t a fit? Digital products are usually not refundable but if I can verify that you've watched less than 5% of the videos, you will receive a refund when requested within 5 days of purchase.

Telva Chase

I'm Telva Chase, founder of Telva's Toolbox and author of The Solopreneur's Guide to Surface Pattern Design, Volumes I and II. I came to surface pattern design in 2019, after a watercolor I sold at Portland's Saturday Market, Ocean Meets Sky, ended up in Columbia Sportswear's women's running line.  Before that, I spent my career as the VP, Information Security, which explains my fondness for checklists, clear process, and files that are named correctly. I have also taken more than 450 SkillShare courses, so I know exactly what a course that wastes your time looks like. This one does not.  I teach business first and design second, because most designers already have the talent. What they are missing is the process. I don't make promises and I tell it like it is with no fluff. If you don't want the honest truth about this business, please go to the big box educators who promise you the moon.
